The second module of the Stem is Fem charity project took place in Kyiv from the 14th to 15th of December. It focused on the IT industry and aimed to motivate Ukrainian school girls to study computer sciences. The module was supported by the Minister of Social Policy of Ukraine and leading IT companies, such as Google, Beetroot and Global Logic.
Stem is Fem was launched by Gamingtec to form a strong female IT community in Ukraine. According to statistics provided by recruiting agencies, 65 percent of all workers in the IT industry are men, so it is necessary to support girls to get a STEM education.

Olga Stoyan, CMO of our company, made a motivational speech during the closing ceremony. She congratulated all of the participants and wished them good luck in their future careers: ‘When I was studying at school, it was complicated finding opportunities and taking part in educational projects because I didn`t have good internet access at home and it was challenging to look for inspiring examples to follow. All I did was based on my personal experience. I achieved good results over time but I’m sure I could have done it faster.

The IT module of Stem is Fem gathered 23 girls from different Ukrainian cities. All of them received valuable keepsakes: books and souvenirs to remember their two days spent in Kyiv. Two winners of the module – Elizaveta Sitnikova and Maria Scherban – were prized with a year’s subscription to the Projector platform (educational courses on various IT disciplines). The grand prize was taken by Veronika Podlesnova. She won a ticket to Webit Festival Europe that will be held in Valencia next year.
