The rise of regulated iGaming in the UAE

The approval arrives at a significant moment for the UAE’s iGaming industry. Since the GCGRA was established in September 2023, the country has progressed from creating a federal regulatory framework to licensing businesses across lottery, land-based gaming, internet gaming and sports wagering.

The regulator’s public directory currently names just over 20 Gaming-Related Vendor licensees, alongside licensed businesses operating in other areas of commercial gaming. In June 2026 the UAE made history with the launch of its first licensed online sports-betting offering. These developments demonstrate how quickly the UAE has moved from establishing a regulatory authority to building an operational commercial gaming market.
