Nowadays, teenagers tend to use social media for entertainment only and do not see it as an opportunity for building their own professional image or even building a career. Oksana Kuiantseva, PR Manager at Gamingtec, shared key points on how to have a professional profile on Instagram that will become a competitive advantage for applicants of volunteering and educational projects.
According to statistics, 91% of employers use social media to screen applicants. Considering the fact that most teenagers prefer Instagram among other social media, it would be smart of them to create a professional account that would show from the best side their interests and occupations, in other way, use this social media for self-presentation.
A social media profile can tell a lot of things about the user. Posting relevant content, he/she can show interest and engagement in a professional topic or area, motivation to pursue it, their achievements in education, hobbies and habits.

The participants of the webinar learned about how content (or its absence) can damage the personal image. For example, an empty profile is a sign that a person is not socially active or he/she tries to hide something from the recruiter changing privacy settings. Another example, content conflicts with the purpose of the social project or declared values of the applicant.
